On March 6th 1987 the Herald of Free Enterprise capsizes just outside the harbour of Zeebrugge killing 192 people.
On May 29th 1999 a truck carrying paint collides with a car. In the fire that follows the crash 12 people die.
On March 24th 1999 a fire breaks out in the Mont Blanc tunnel, the tunnel linking France and Italy killing 41 people.
On October 4th 1992 a Boeing 747 cargo plane of the Israeli airline El Al, crashed into the Groeneveen and Klein-Kruitberg flats killing at least 43 people. The exact number of deaths remains unknown due to the fact that many undocumented residents, illegal immigrants to the Netherlands lived in these flats.
On November 11th 2000 at least 159 people die in a fire in a skying train.
On June 18th 2000 some employees of the customs of Dover discover the lifeless bodies of 58 Chinese immigrants inside a Dutch cooling truck. They died from suffocation.
On 4 March 2001 a bridge over Douro River collapsed, dropping a crowded bus and two cars into raging waters, 74 people die in this accident.
On February 3th 1998 an American military jet airplane, flying at low alitude, destroys the cables of a gondola in Italian the skying district of Cavalese. One of the cabins takes a 200 meter plunge. Twenty people lose their lives.
